Antarctica
by Kiera Potter

Antarctica
Once we die we become part of everything,
Or so I like to think
You are the wind
You are the stars
You are in everyone
You may be in Antarctica by now,
A steady breeze that makes this world at peace
You may be a beautiful flower in Hawaii that a child takes home to her mother
You may be a twinkle in someone’s eye ready to be born again
Wherever you are, I am waiting for you
So we can hold hands and talk about all the places in the universe you’ve been to.
About the Author
My name is Kiera, I use poetry as a healthy way to organize my thoughts and navigate what I am feeling. Not only does this improve my mental health since I have a physical representation of where I am mentally. It means I also simultaneously create art, which I love doing more than anything. I see this process as a way to garnish what has caused me hardships with beauty, being able to create now with someone who is no longer here. It assists me in changing my perspective that not all bad things are simply that. They can also be good. That is what I believe self care is- being able to change perspective by seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
